Basic Info
Name:Harry James Potter
Location:London, United Kingdom
Bio
The Basics

Character Name: Harry James Potter
PB: Daniel Radcliffe

Age: 20
Birthday: July 31, 1980
Wand: 11 inches, holly, with a phoenix feather core
House in School: Gryffindor
Bloodline: Harry is probably about 3/4 pureblood; his father's side of the family was pureblooded, but his mother came from a Muggle family. Harry has some Muggle in him, not just from blood, but also how he was raised.

Political View: Harry is very obviously on the "good" side, having been fighting Voldemort for nearly all of his life. Most of the time, too, he's been fighting the Ministry. They've attempted to use him for their own gain, and it sickens Harry. In the thick of the war, the Ministry continued to try to exploit Harry and make everyone think that Harry is on their side, when Harry is very obviously against nearly everything the Ministry does. Both the Ministry and the Daily Prophet (which is so often controlled by the Ministry) called Harry crazy for over a year, and then suddenly came to their senses after the battle in the Ministry at the end of Harry's fifth year. Their waffling has always been a bone of contention for Harry, and now the Registry makes the Ministry even worse for him. Since so many of Harry's friends and adopted family members are on it, the Registry just makes Harry angry. In theory, it would be an okay idea, just to keep track of former Death Eaters who could easily strike again, but no one else ought to be included in it. Remus, Bill, and Fleur should not be on it, in Harry's opinion, which was why he signed up in protest. Being who he is, though (and sometimes he hates the "preferential treatment" he's given), he wasn't allowed to stay on.

Harry's political views are generally simple. He will fight against "evil", and fight for the rights of citizens in the wizarding world, especially those who are so commonly disenfranchised and discriminated against, like werewolves.
Appearance

Height: Tall, about 5'10 or 5'11, maybe 6'0
Weight: About 175; he's still tall and skinny, but he's gained some muscle as he's grown older
Eyes: Green
Hair: Black, and always messy
Build: Gangly, but not all knees and elbows as he was when he was growing up
Dress Style: Casual; Harry prefers jeans and sweaters or shirts, but he can scrub up nicely when he wants (or has) to.

Basic Physical Description: Harry is tall and thin, but a bit more muscular now than he was when he was in school. He has black hair that is unruly and messy no matter what he tries to do to it. His eyes are emerald green, and people always tell him that he has his mother's eyes.

Defining Marks: The lightning scar on his forehead is a pretty big discerning mark. Most people recognise him because of that. However, his hair and his eyes are also a dead giveaway to who he is, at least in the wizarding world. These people grew up hearing the story, and most likely seeing a photo or two, of Harry James Potter. Most would recognise him no matter what.
Personality

Harry James Potter is a very proud person. He hates to admit when he's wrong, and hates to be wrong even more. He'll do things his way most of the time, even if his way is much more difficult and dangerous than another way. However, his pride and determination--though less his pride and more his determination--have served him well in his past. His pride served him very well when he was teaching the members of the DA. Harry could explain exactly what he did, how he did it, and why he did it to the members of the DA, and a lot of the time, that seemed to help them, or at least he thought it did.

However, one of his weaknesses is also his sense of pride. Pride has also gotten him in a fair amount of trouble. When he, Hermione, Ron, Neville, Luna and Ginny went to the Ministry on that fateful day, it was because of Harry's pride. He strongly believed that Voldemort had Sirius, and wouldn't listen to anyone else when they told him that it could be Voldemort planting the image in his head, knowing that Harry would drop everything to come and save Sirius. It didn't matter to him; if Voldemort even possibly had Sirius, Harry needed to go. And if Voldemort didn't have Sirius at that exact moment, it was likely that by the time Harry got to the Ministry, Voldemort would have Sirius.

His strengths generally outnumber his weaknesses, though. Harry is an excellent flier, and he can generally do what he needs to do (except when it came to homework in school). He has a lot of faith in himself, which some see as self-centered-ness, but Harry doesn't mean for it to be like that. He just needs to have faith in himself, considering the burden the wizarding world placed on him when he was but one year old. Sometimes other people had more faith in him than he did, and a lot of the time, that really worried him. He didn't want everyone to pin all of their hopes on him and then fail, but no matter what, the wizarding world looked to their "saviour" Harry Potter.

Now that Voldemort has been vanquished, Harry has a much more pleasant outlook on life. Before, all he could think of was ridding the world of Voldemort and his band of Death Eaters. It put a serious damper on his life; it meant that, until Voldemort was dead, Harry couldn't really have a carefree life. He doesn't have a carefree life now, not by any means, but it's certainly a lot easier now that he doesn't have to worry about Voldemort and Death Eaters at every turn. He doesn't have to worry about one of his friends or even acquaintances being a headline in the Daily Prophet because they were killed by Voldemort.

Of course, Harry's more pleasant outlook did not show up overnight. After the death of Dumbledore, Harry's world was turned upside down. It was already relatively difficult, compared to his other schoolmates; after all, Harry had had the safety and security of the wizarding world placed on his shoulders from when he was one year old. Getting over the death of Dumbledore was one of the hardest things Harry had to do. After all, Dumbledore had been by his side for all of his six years at Hogwarts, and had helped him through some of his most difficult times with Voldemort. However, Harry felt like he always had Dumbledore with him every time he met with a Death Eater or Voldemort. Maybe it was just because he'd been working with Dumbledore for the biggest six years of his life, but Harry had a thought in the back of his mind that perhaps Dumbledore's sacrificial death had protected him in some way, just like his mother's sacrificial death had protected him while he could still call a place where his mother's blood dwelled home. Since he graduated from school, he didn't live with the Dursleys anymore, and he seemed to have too many "close calls" with Voldemort to have it be sheer luck. Something--or someone--was definitely protecting Harry, and Harry thought about it on several occasions, coming to the conclusion that it was either Dumbledore's or Sirius's spirit watching over him.

Even though there could have been a spirit--or spirits--watching over him, Harry did not have an easy trail through the final war. The search for the Horcruxes was incredibly taxing on Harry's physical, mental and emotional states. It caused him indescribable stress, and he tended to explode at those closest to him when he was very stressed out. A lot of the time, Harry couldn't believe that he was the one that was supposed to kill Voldemort. He had to kill another entity...he couldn't call Voldemort a human being, because he no longer was, but he didn't know what else to call him. The only way that he could kill other beings was to think of the pain and destruction they had caused to so many people about whom Harry cared.

Regarding the pardoning of the Death Eater trio, Harry could hardly believe that both Bellatrix Lestrange and Lucius Malfoy were pardoned for their horrible crimes and destruction against the wizarding world. Harry didn't understand how it could have been made possible. He was aghast when he heard about it. Bellatrix Lestrange had killed one of the closest things to a father figure Harry had ever had, and he can never forgive her for that. Harry had a problem with Snape being pardoned, but after awhile, he began to forgive Snape. As Snape was still in the Order, Harry trusted the judgment of the senior Order members in allowing Snape to remain in the Order. Though he still doesn't like Snape, he'll begrudgingly spend time with him if the need arises.
Psychology

Extrovert/Introvert: Harry's a bit of both, but mostly he leans toward being an extrovert
Boggart Would Be: A Dementor; whenever he saw the Dementors, he heard his mother screaming.
Patronus Would Be: A stag, because that's what his father's Animagus form was
Sexuality

Harry is heterosexual, as proven time and again in canon. In his third and fourth years, Harry had a bit of a soft spot for Cho Chang. This continued into the middle of his fifth year, when Marietta Edgecombe gave up the existence of the DA to Umbridge. Harry couldn't stand even seeing Cho after that. He went through a dry spell until early in his sixth year, when he began to have strong feelings for Ginny Weasley. Harry fought these feelings for a long time, because he knew that Ron would, quite possibly, kill him if he knew that Harry was entertaining romantic thoughts about his younger sister. However, near the end of his sixth year, Harry couldn't hold back anymore. Ginny was newly single, and Harry didn't want to miss the boat. Ron was incredibly angry with him at first, but slowly warmed to the idea, since he knew Harry, and he knew that Harry knew that he would kill him if Harry did anything awful to his sister. However, at the end of his sixth year, Harry broke up with Ginny because he didn't want Voldemort to target her. His reasoning behind that was that since Voldemort would stop at nothing to get to him, Voldemort would torture and perhaps kill the people closest to him. Fortunately, Ginny was not killed, and Harry and Ginny were together until recently. Newly single, Harry isn't really looking for a relationship right now. If something happens, it happens, but he's not specifically interested in anyone.
Lifestyle

Occupation: Currently unemployed
Residence: The Phoenix
Financial Status: Harry is very well-off. His parents left him a substantial amount of money, more than he could have spent in the last 9 years, so even though he's currently unemployed, he's doing fine financially.
Family

Parents: Lily and James Potter are dead. Sirius Black is dead. Dumbledore is dead. These are all of the people that Harry would have had as parental figures, especially Dumbledore. Now the only father figure he really has is Remus Lupin. Harry trusts Remus for everything. This is why he asked Remus to teach him the Unforgivable curses, though he didn't like the fact that Remus insisted that Harry practise on him. He had a very difficult time casting Unforgivable spells on someone who had been with him and supported him for years, especially when Sirius had died.

Harry's adopted family, the Weasleys and Hermione, have also stood by him in so many times of trouble. There were many, many times, an amount that Harry could never count, that he wished that the Weasleys were his real family (aside from Percy, of course). They were so supportive of him, a complete difference from the Dursleys, who couldn't have cared less about him, no matter what he did.

Harry has a more non-traditional family, in that the people he considers "family" aren't related to him at all, and didn't meet them until he was at least 11 years old. They've been the people who have stood by him and helped him in his times of trouble. They are the people who matter most to him, and if he lost any of these people, he could well crack. He's lost so many people who mattered to him, and to lose one more might put him over the edge.
Siblings: None, though he always wished he had a real sibling, not just his vile cousin Dudley.

He was always on one side of the fence and the Dursleys on the other, though he did his best not to show it. He didn't need any more trouble from them; he somehow got himself into enough trouble without even trying. Harry didn't know, at the time, how he got himself into such situations, but, aside from the inevitable trouble with the Dursleys, the odd happenings always ended up in his favour. They tried to squash the magic out of him, as Vernon said in PS, but nothing of the sort could have ever happened to Harry Potter.
History from student days at Hogwarts to the present time

1. The creation of the DA: We all know that, according to OoTP, Harry created the DA to practise defencive spells, since what they were doing in Umbridge's class was just theory, and not even that. It was busywork for busywork's sake, something to keep the students occupied so they wouldn't question the Ministry. This was a major part of Harry's reasoning in creating the organisation, of course, but Harry also did it for his own practise. He, too, needed to practise the defencive spells that would be necessary to defeat Voldemort, but he couldn't simply wander around the castle hexing people and producing Patronuses without getting more than a few weird looks and several months of detention. The DA was also created not only at Hermione's urging and because Harry wanted practise on his defencive work but because Harry thought he would need to put out some feelers to see who would be willing to support him if worst came to worst. This was proven when Marietta Edgecombe ratted out the DA to Umbridge, and Cho went with her. Harry also found that Luna, an unlikely ally, was one of the people who fought the strongest to join him, Ron and Hermione when they were going off to the Ministry at the end of their 5th year.
2. On his decision to accompany Dumbledore everywhere to find the locations of the Horcruxes: Though he was chronologically young, Harry was old beyond his years, which, when one thinks about it, is slightly depressing. A sixteen-year-old should not have to be pursuing mass murderers and attempting to kill the supremacists in the wizarding world. However, this was the hand that Harry was dealt, and he knew that he would either have to dive in and do everything he knew was required of him, or allow the wizarding world to simply blink out of existence because of his lack of motivation. Harry not only followed Dumbledore because of his insane curiousity about Voldemort's existence and motivations, but because he knew that he would have to be the one to eventually kill Voldemort, and he needed to have all of the information--ammunition--that was available to him.
3. On his decision to break up with Ginny: This could be classified by outsiders as another "playing the hero" moment, but Harry didn't want it to come out that way at all. He truly cared about Ginny, and he was very, very worried that Voldemort would pursue her in a way to get to him. He wanted to distance himself as far as possible from his friends, too, so none of them would be hurt or killed, but they wouldn't let him do it. If he was going to fight Voldemort, they were going to help him, no matter what he said.

Harry is very, very tired of constantly being in the spotlight for being the "saviour" of the wizarding world. He wants to have a private life. Sometimes he wishes that his life was normal, that he wasn't constantly in the Daily Prophet, and that he wasn't considered a saviour. He just wants to be a regular person, but he knows that will never happen. He's done too much for his life to ever be considered normal again, not that it ever was. As a child, he grew up in a cupboard under the stairs. At school, he had to fight one of the most evil wizards known to mankind, as well as his mindless and evil followers. If that wouldn't set him apart from most other people, not much else would. Considering, also, that he was the one who finally killed Voldemort, Harry could never have a normal life.

Regarding actually killing Voldemort, Harry had built up so much fear and anxiety around it that it almost felt like a relief when he'd finally done it. He was sure it was a major relief to the rest of the wizarding community as well, now not having to worry about their children and their own lives being in constant jeopardy due to the arbitrary nature of Voldemort and his Death Eaters and their killing sprees. The actual act, though, of murdering Voldemort was incredibly difficult, not just because Harry and Voldemort were pretty much evenly matched. The only thing that kept Harry even slightly ahead was the fact that he had several people who had died to save him, and their energy and spirits were with him all of the time.

After the final battle, Harry was drained. Emotionally, physically, and mentally. He had horrific nightmares every night about the final battle, and if it had come out differently. He dreamed about the deaths of so many people he had known and cared about, and it killed him on the inside. Harry was no longer the same person. He was emotional, and he tended to take out his stress on other people. It spoke volumes about the characters of his friends and adopted family that they would still stand by him, even though he was breaking and yelling at them. Slowly, though, through talking to several people, including Remus and Hermione, Harry began to rebuild his life. Now that he didn't have to worry about Voldemort, he could have a much lighter life, and a lighter load to carry with him.

Dealing with Draco Malfoy was a different story. At first, Harry just didn't know how to handle one of his sworn enemies since school. He hated Draco more than ever. He had known that Draco had been on the side of Voldemort, and when his own belief was finally proven to everyone else, he could now legitimately fight against him. After the war, though, Harry realised -- after much discussion and pondering -- that Draco had mainly been in it because of pressure from his father. It still wouldn't absolve Draco of the atrocities he'd committed, but Harry understood, at least slightly, why he had done what he had done. He still won't be best friends with Draco, or even more than civil, at least not at the moment, but he can tolerate Draco much more than he did before.
